Electrical Assembler- Welham Green - £19K - £20K

The Position
As the Production Operator you will be provided with an excellent opportunity to develop as a cable assembler (including cutting, crimping, stripping, soldering and terminating), electro-mechanical assembler, tester, development technician and designer within various parts of the business.
Duties and responsibilities
• A completed Electronics qualification (Apprenticeship, NVQ or City & Guilds) and ideally 5 or more GCSE’s
• An interest and understanding in electronic technology and products
• The ability to read and understand Engineering drawings and diagrams
• A basic understanding of testing cable and electronic assemblies
• An aptitude for design and improvement
• A logical understanding of, and keenness for problem solving and fault finding
• Good IT skills
• Good communication skills with co-workers and managers
• Strong attention to detail
• Driven with a desire to learn and succeed
• Have a background in cable assembly manufacture - coaxial, semi-rigid, multi-wire, looms and ribbon cables.
• Excellent practical skills being able to work to or be qualified to IPC 620 A, B or C cable harness and wiring standard.
• Have knowledge of testing assemblies using ATE and VNA to make hi-potential, continuity and RF test measurements.
• Be able to produce prototype cable assemblies from customer drawings, information and paperwork or descriptions.
• Fault finding capability and an analytical approach to problems (ensuring effective solutions). • Have knowledge of cable and connector types, assisting in applications engineering
. • Be able to read and understand technical drawings and schematics.
• Have the ability to produce tools and fixtures to aid and support the production process (machine shop skills would be an advantage).
• Be conversant in computer systems (such as an ERP system) to be able to complete transactions and generate bills of materials as required for new assemblies.
• Conversant with Microsoft Office being able to produce corrective action reports and other engineering reporting.
• To be able to produce simple prototype drawings enabling manufacture of cable assemblies.
• To be able to set up stripping and crimping machines, general tooling changes, stripping lengths and maintenance
