The Communications Team at a Camden based Housing Association are looking to recruit an External Affairs Officer, who will be responsible for supporting and delivering a planned programme of pro-active engagement with politicians, media and other key corporate stakeholders to increase awareness and understanding of our brand and work to generate external support. The post holder will support the External Affairs Manager to increase awareness and understanding of our brand and work to achieve our strategic objectives.

The Role
As External Affairs Officer you would be expected to:
-Provide an effective horizon scanning service to ensure that the Housing Association stays abreast of emerging issues and opportunities in the political arena.
-Identify opportunities for political stakeholder engagement and develop channels aimed at delivering key messages to local and national politicians.
-Brief and provide briefing materials for other teams and senior managers on key issues as required.
-Liaise and actively engage with political stakeholders as appropriate to promote the Housing Associations views, projects and initiatives.
-Support and deliver the Housing Association's stakeholder publications, newsletters and other relevant literature.
-Work collaboratively with the Corporate Communications Officers to develop the Housing Association's digital stakeholder engagement strategy, identifying opportunities to communicate to politicians through digital channels.
-Identify opportunities for One Housing to engage in the public policy process.
-Monitor developments in relevant public policy areas and disseminate information to relevant internal stakeholders.
-Monitor research and other sector issues to ensure we keep abreast of external trends and changes and reflect best practice where appropriate.
-Manage, research and write public policy consultations.
-Research and draft policy statements on current and proposed legislation.
-Draft policy submissions/consultation responses, consulting internal stakeholders as appropriate.
-Support the External Affairs Manager to secure positive proactive press coverage.
-Manage, organise and deliver a range of external facing events including housing development launches and site visits by political and other key stakeholders.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role:
-Strong written and verbal communication skills
-Public affairs and/or policy experience with a good understanding of the parliamentary process
-Experience of planning and delivering integrated public affairs or other engagement campaigns
-Experience of communicating with a diverse range of audiences and stakeholders
-Strong political awareness and understanding of local and national government
-Experience working with the media

The Contract
This is a Perm Role starting ASAP, 35 hours per week, working Monday to Friday on a Salary of £30,000 per annum.
