17975 – Purchasing Specialist – Grimsby - £35,000 - £39,000

This role focuses on local purchasing needs which are not covered by the clients global purchasing department. Ensures compliance with local and global purchasing standards. Ensures that stores stock is kept to required levels and negotiates contractual arrangements with suppliers to ensure this is managed efficiently.

Purchasing Specialist Responsibilities:

* Develops and executes local purchasing strategies in line with Global purchasing guidelines/policies including the tendering of work to a minimum of 3 vendors for all expenditure above the set limit

* Develop, track and report purchasing metrics to reduce cost and improve effectiveness

* Develop negotiation plans and close deals with suppliers including additional terms

* Liaises with all areas within the business to ensure that the specifications of products/services to be procured are clearly explained

* Source and assess new products/vendors and negotiate competitive prices

* Assess, manage and mitigates purchasing risks to the Grimsby factory

* Determines quantity, timing and cost of deliveries

* Monitor and forecast future levels of stock, goods and/or services in liaison with other functions

* Deputise for Purchasing Manager and ensure availability of raw materials to certain specifications and in appropriate quantity to achieve planned production

* Provides the logistical interface between suppliers and central purchasing such that supplies to the business are scheduled to be delivered when required

* Ensures monthly stock checks are carried out

* Documents and maintains appropriate HSE procedures for purchased materials and services as well as the receipt of goods/materials to the site

* Manages the storage of consumables in accordance with ISO9000/14000

* Ensures Vendor assessments are conducted to ensure conformity to set standards.

* Responsible for ensuring that internal and external Health, Safety & Environmental standards are met in terms of both work performance and behaviour

Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

* Minimum of 2 years purchasing experience

* High personal and professional standards.

* Ability to plan requirements.

* Ability to negotiate supply terms with Clients and Vendors

* Capable of understanding raw material supply considerations.

* Knowledge of the stores order and stock control system.

* Knowledge of engineering parts and service requirements.

* Ability to react to a rapidly changing market

* SAP experience and good knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Education:

* Ideally graduate calibre and CIPS qualified would be preferred but happy to put the right candidate through the qualification.

* Quantitative data/Dimensions/KPI: Purchasing Volume €9M per year
