The role will be part of the RF Electronics Countermeasures Integrated Project Team as we look to grow new business within the Surveillance & Protection Technology Sector, part of the EW Line of Business located at our Luton Site.

You will be a seasoned Project Manager, with experience of delivering bids and proposals. Your primary role will be to manage a cross-functional team to own the end-to-end bid process to prepare and deliver a winning bid. You will be responsible for working closely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to manage opportunities from qualification to contract award. The role requires strategy development, solution development, contractual and financial considerations and risk management. This is a highly people focussed role that requires an ability to work under pressure and to challenging deadlines. You will also be called upon to undertake additional project management responsibilities related to internal development programmes on an adhoc basis as required by the business.

What you will do

Manage co-located and virtual bid teams and inputs from a variety of internal and external stakeholders, such as, Sales, Engineering, Commercial and Project Management
Conduct effective Risk and Opportunity Management
Contributing to written proposal in terms of content and presentation
Robust cost control for all projects/bids you are responsible for and communicate forecasts and status updates clearly to the IPT Lead
Ensure timely delivery of compliant and commercially sound bids
Understand and resolve complex technical, strategic and business issues
Excellent communication skills - ability to communicate effectively to senior management and customers is crucial
Promote an open culture of best practice and knowledge sharing and within the Integrated Project Team (IPT)
Establish an effective partnership between the Project and the Functions
Ensure any bids are prepared, managed and reviewed in line with Leonardo policies and standard
Translate and apply the appropriate strategy for managing contingency plans to mitigate risks and capitalise on opportunities within the project
Ownership for delivery and performance of the project's you are assigned
Manage the planning, allocation and deployment of team members within the projects you are allocated
Establish and maintain the Work Package Management for your projects, understand the specific resource profiles and report into the value stream lead critical path and dependencies between projects
Ensure team size and capability mix is optimised for successful delivery of all work packages

What we are looking for

Experience in a similar level Project Management role or discipline
Project management experience in all phases of the project execution lifecycle, including Business Winning Phases, across several projects or programmes of medium complexity, involving both engineering and manufacturing
Experience of developing and maintaining customer/supplier relations
Experience or awareness of related functions such as Commercial, Procurement, Quality Assurance
Extensive and demonstrable experience in all aspects of project planning, scheduling, work package management and cost control
Experience of Primavera and/or MS Project and Agile Tools & Techniques
Ability to influence, inspire and motivate project teams (direct/indirect management).
Knowledge and experience of Leonardo project lifecycle.

Typically, Qualifications include:

Typically degree qualified in a business or engineering related discipline
Typically meets the requirements for registration as a full member of the Association for Project Managers (APM)
