Job Title: Senior Sustainability Consultant (Certifications)

Location: London

Salary: £45-55k (dependent on experience)

Our client is an independent engineering and sustainability consultancy that provides tailored advice to the clients to deliver practice, well-engineered sustainable solutions. The company aims to deliver comprehensive, cost effective and innovative advice to the clients which is underpinned by sound knowledge of engineering and sustainable design and which results in buildings, products and organisations that operate with a lower environment impact.

Whilst they work hard, flexible and caring environment for the staff is also provided and support for all staff to develop their professional knowledge and skills, whether technical, managerial or commercial.

The main element of the role will be to provide strategic sustainability support to the clients including developing sustainability briefs for new build and refurbishment projects, monitoring the briefs during the design and construction stages, developing sustainability statements for planning, advising on and delivering environmental and health & wellbeing certification, and undertaking post occupancy evaluation (POE) of projects.

As part of your role, you will be supporting the team with direct technical delivery based on a defined project scope; however you will also be expected to lead the delivery of some projects, requiring good organizational and management skills. In addition, you will be expected to contribute to the development of the business through involvement in writing fee proposals, attending project interviews and fostering business relationship with both existing and potential clients.

Responsibilities - Technical

The successful candidate is expected to have sufficient knowledge and project experience to undertake a proactive role within the sustainability services business. Responsibilities will include the following:

Development of bespoke sustainability strategies to assist clients establishing and/or achieving compliance with their corporate sustainability targets.
Oversight and delivery of environmental and health & wellbeing assessment of building using BREEAM, LEED, WELL and fitwel including collation of evidence and certification
Running workshops with client and design teams to review progress against the sustainability brief and building certification.
Coordination and delivery of sustainability services to support planning applications, including developing sustainability statements.
Provide consultancy advice on sustainable issues including water efficiency, health and wellbeing, circular economy and energy.
Support contractors in the delivery of the sustainability brief including monthly updates and site visits (if required)
Development of standards and ongoing review of new sustainability trends to continuously improve the efficiency and quality the company's services.Responsibilities - General

Agree level of service and project outputs with your line manager/ project lead for each project, including understanding the scope, timescales and target profitability of each project.
Attend project meetings as required and present findings/ progress reports.
Manage the budget of individual projects including reporting to the management team on costs and progress.
Monitor contract staff or third party contractors as required for each project.
Support, assist and deputise to the other members of the company as workload and/or circumstances require.
Maintain excellent client and delivery team relationships to achieve high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities where appropriate with existing and new clients
Develop project proposals and attend project interviews and presentations as required.
Maintain and develop professional knowledge of energy, carbon and sustainability technologies, processes and legislation and communicate the impacts to clients and project design teams.Requirements:

Have a good science, environmental, engineering, architecture or energy degree.
At least 4+ years' experience
Certified WELL assessor
Track record of the delivery of environmental and health & certification for buildings (BREEAM, LEED, WELL etc.) from early stages of certifications.
Good experience of front line delivery to customers - able to present sustainability strategies and lead workshops
Track record of developing sustainability strategies
Good understanding of energy and sustainability planning and policy, particularly in London and project experience of developing sustainability strategies for planning.
Comfortable with presenting to an audience (both written and verbally) on both technical and non-technical matters.
Good experience of analysing data using tools such as excel.
Ability to prepare and deliver compelling proposals in writing and in interview situations.Advantageous

BREEAM Assessor and/or AP qualification
LEED AP
Fitwel ambassador
Knowledge of net zero carbon building standards including UKGBC, LETI and RIBA
Knowledge and experience of energy efficient building design and specification
