Junior / Trainee Mechanical Design Engineer

£28k - £34k DOE – Based in Letchworth

Mechanical Design of Assemblies and Layouts / Client Facing / Liaising with the Shopfloor / Working on Solidworks / Training and Development

5D Recruitment is proud to be working exclusively, in partnership with a leading engineering company based in the heart of the home counties. Employing over 50 people they design, manufacture, assemble, test, and ship bespoke automated machinery from their new, world-class facility.

Working across a variety of industries their main markets include the medical and scientific sectors, with their products used and trusted by some of the world’s biggest companies.

This exciting opportunity has arisen due to growth, and we are looking to recruit a mechanical design engineer to meet project requirements from new and existing customers.

What the Role Will Involve:

* Design of mechanisms, assemblies, sub-assemblies, layouts, pipe routings, and fabrications.

* Specification of components such as pumps, valves, pneumatic, robotic systems, and other ancillary equipment, such as feed conveyors.

* Creation of BOM’s, manufacturing drawings, and other supply chain and manufacturing documentation.

* Being the point of contact for production during the build and test phase.

* As the role evolves, you will be working on more complex design challenges, as well as becoming increasingly client facing.

What we are looking for in the Candidate:

* 1-2 years work experience, ideally within a design environment.

* Experience in mechanical design, using 3D CAD, ideally Solidworks, but this is not essential!

* An excellent communicator - liaising with the production, and working as a design team to engineer the best solutions for the client.

* Strong desire to learn, improve, and develop as an engineer.
