Product Design Engineer
Salary: £24,000 – £39,000 dependent on experience.
Position: Full Time / 8:30 – 17:00

The Opportunity
As part of our ongoing expansion, the opportunity has arisen to join our team in Daventry Northamptonshire. Working as a key part of the Product Design team, this role will be to create products from conception through to production.
 
The Person
We are looking for someone with experience / qualifications in mechanical / product design, design engineering or similar using SolidWorks. Ideally someone who has experience with sheet metal products and metal fabrications.
 
Key Duties

Designing new products and modifying existing products using SolidWorks CAD software
You will manage the complete product design lifecycle from brainstorming and concept development to project management and production
Creating parts lists / BOM's using SolidWorks
Creating engineering drawings
Liaising with suppliers
Physical testing of products
Producing content for product instruction manuals (training will be given)
Managing product data and documentation 
Requirements

Strong 3D CAD product design / engineering background using SolidWorks
Experience with sheet metal and metal fabrications
A good understanding of the design process and manufacturing techniques
Meticulous attention to detail
Good team working and communication skills – sketch, written and verbal
Self-motivated, organised multi-tasker capable of managing projects
Must be able to use initiative, suggest ideas and improvements to products
Competent using PCs and Windows
General workshop skills
May be asked to assist with setting up stands at exhibitions in the UK, Europe and internationally if required (approximately 1-2 per year)
Must be able to lift a 25kg weight to chest height for product testing
Desirable but Non-Essential Skills

Experience with aluminium extrusions and plastics would be an advantage
FEA stress analysis / simulation would be an advantage
Experience in the AV industry would be an advantage
Previous experience with a PDM system would be an advantage (training given)
