We have an excellent opportunity for a motivated and experienced Production Manager to join us at Aldermans Tooling Ltd, a leading metalwork manufacturer in Plymouth, dedicated to maintaining excellence in our operations and ensuring smooth functioning across all facilities. 

Along with a salary of up to £45,000 per annum, we offer a fantastic range of benefits including company sick pay, a pension scheme, paid events, and competitive holidays increasing with service. 

You will attend regular Management Meetings and expected to work collaboratively with every area of the business to include sales, design, quality and compliance, procurement and HR. Also, in this role you will naturally foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. 

What you’ll do as Production Manager at Aldermans: 

Driving Production: Manage day-to-day production and operations, working with the sales team to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to high standards.
Team Leadership: Lead, inspire, and develop the team through clear communication and promoted collaboration, excellence, and high morale. Conduct regular meetings to communicate expectations and provide updates.
Resource Management: Work with colleagues to optimise labour, materials, and equipment to meet targets efficiently.
Process Improvement: Implement lean manufacturing practices to boost productivity and reduce waste. Encourage a solution focused approach to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Quality Assurance: Ensure all products meet customer and regulatory standards, addressing non-conformance issues promptly.
Health & Safety: Uphold and enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations and encourage best practice on the shop floor. Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments. Investigate and document any workplace incidents or near-misses.
Performance Management: Set clear goals and expectations for staff, regularly assess performance, and provide constructive feedback. Address underperformance by implementing improvement plans and provide necessary support to meet objectives.
Disciplinary Action: Monitor staff performance, attendance and conduct, addressing issues in a timely manner. Where applicable, handle staff discipline issues in a fair and consistent manner. Follow company procedures to address behavioural issues, ensuring a respectful and safe working environment.
Conflict Resolution: Proactively identify potential conflicts within the team and mediate to resolve issues swiftly. Foster an open-door policy to encourage transparent communication and maintain a harmonious workplace.
Performance Tracking: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify and drive improvements as well as report KPI information to Directors.
At Aldermans, we’re looking for a Production Manager with:

Proven experience in production management, ideally in engineering and/or manufacturing.
Extensive experience in production supervisory or management role.
Degree or Higher National Diploma in engineering or manufacturing would be desirable, or similar subject. 
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Expertise in lean manufacturing and process improvement methodologies (e.g. six sigma).
Proficiency in production planning and resource management.
Proven experience in ERP, MRP or SAP systems with a proven track record of digital/ IT expertise
Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety regulations.
Solution orientated, with excellent problem-solving skills.
Proven ability in performance management, staff development and conflict resolution.
Ability to effectively manage staff discipline in alignment with company policies.
Worked in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
You will be working 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 07:00-15:30.
