HSE Manager

Location: Ghent, Belgium

Rate: €650–€660 All-In Day Rate

Start Date: ASAP

Languages Required: Dutch-speaking

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and proactive HSE Manager for an exciting contract opportunity in Ghent, Belgium. This role is ideal for a health and safety expert with experience in the construction within manufacturing sectors, particularly one who can effectively manage health and safety processes while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

* Ensure compliance with all health and safety legislation, including the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, specifically the Principal Contractor responsibilities.

* Develop and maintain project documentation, including Construction Phase Plans (CPP), emergency plans, and fire risk assessments.

* Coordinate contractors’ work activities through permit to work processes and on-site meetings.

* Enforce our client’s Safety Standards and support the application of their Safety Management System.

* Provide guidance and support to clients on health and safety matters, fostering a strong safety culture.

* Lead safety culture improvements on-site by setting an example and promoting safety recognition programs for positive performance.

* Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance and identify hazards.

* Investigate accidents/incidents thoroughly, reporting findings and implementing corrective actions.

* Support the acquisition of new projects by demonstrating a strong understanding of all services offered and a commitment to our client’s values.

* Oversee the HSE Support team, if applicable.

* Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues, supporting internal business functions and processes.

* Provide support in fulfilling HSE Support duties when required.

* Achieve 100% completion of monthly KPIs with a focus on maintaining high performance standards.

* Adhere to all company policies and procedures, and perform any reasonable requests from the Directors or management.

Requirements:

* Fluent in Dutch (mandatory).

* Proven experience in HSE management within the construction and manufacturing sectors.

* Strong understanding of relevant health and safety regulations.

* Ability to lead by example and drive safety culture across the site.

* Excellent communication and coordination skills.

* Able to work proactively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
